School Band!

Okay, I'm FINALLY getting around to this post. So, In my: "Starting School Post" I talked about making a seperate thread for school band, so, Here it is! Okay, so School Band. At my school there is a Beginner Band for 5th, 6th and 7th grade. There is Woodwind, Brass, and a little bit of Percussion. I've got to tell you, it is a class, and we do learn, but it is LOADS of fun. I play Bass Clarinet, and according to my Band Conductor, I'm pretty good at it, too. Today he said, and I quote: "Clarinets, you're getting better. And Lizzie, well you're like a can of sweet Clarinety Goodness." :) It feels nice to know that I do a good job.

So far, we''ve learned six of the seven notes we are most likely going to learn this year. We've made sure everyone understands how to read music, and we're starting to go from "just noise" to Music. I love expressing myself through music. I am a section leader, even though there are only two people in my section, including me. My section is Low Reeds.

Today, he let us listen to a little preview of our Christmas songs. First was just, you know, a song. The second one was "Jingle Bones" where the Trombones have a couple of solos and funny parts. Then, there is another song, and finally, he said if we can learn all those songs, we can learn an encore song. Are you ready? That's right, Dynamite. By Taio Cruz. How AWESOME is that? It sounded really cool and I really hope we get to do it. :) I have band three times a week, and one practice after school on Thursdays. I really love band and I am looking forward to learning lots of music this year!

Starting School!

Okay, So I started school about a month ago, and let me tell you, WOW. Okay, so lots of things going on for me this year... I have Tutoring, (My teacher who taught me last year asked me to tutor her students in Math) Enrichment, (I'll tell you what that is later,) School Band, (I'm going to make a seperate post about that) and the usual stuff. Class, Homework, and Friendships/ Social Life.

Okay, so first I'll tell you about tutoring. At open house, I stopped by to see my teacher from last year and I said Hi, and gave her BIG hug. She said: "Hey Lizzie! How you doing girl?" We talked about what we did over the summer, and she said: "Lizzie, would you like to tutor my kids?" So, I said: "....Sure, Why not?" so that's how that happened. Okay, so a lot of things this year at my school this year are different, the biggest change being a new building. But, one of the, I guess "Medium Changes" is Enrichment. Enrichment is a program with things like Drama Club, Photography club, Cheerleading Club, etc. It's from 3:15pm-3:55pm each day, and you get to choose your club. I'm excited for enrichment becuase I love to act and I am thinking about doing Theater. (Drama Club)

Now, The next thing, School Band, is a WHOLE other story, so I'll make a seperate post about that. The last thing I'm going to talk to you about today is Friendships. There is someone who I was friends with a couple years ago and had a very bad experience with them, But thankfully, the praying has paid off and Me and that person get along very well. I'm excited for this year, and I'm excited to learn this year. So make sure you do some learning yourself this year, whether it is in school, out of school, or both, and keep checking back for more posts. :)

UPDATE: Sunday, September 18th, 2011

We start tutoring
and Enrichment tomorrow!

4th, 5th, and 6th grade dance!

Okay, this was a while ago, but I've still just GOT to post about it. On April 29th, we had a 4th, 5th, and 6th grade dance planned by some of our schools 4th graders. It was themed: "Dance through the decades." It was NOT what I had expected. I remember picking out my dress and everything, but the thing I remember the best was the EXCITMENT. Me and my friend Macey, it's all we had been talking about. I even sent her pictures of my dress :) After all, it was our first dance! Anywho, the morning of the day of the dance, I was sick to my stomach and I didn't go to school till about 9:00am and I KNEW Macey was probably saying something like "If Lizzie doesn't come to the dance tonight, I'm gonna jump off a bridge." but that's just the way Macey kids around. I felt better, I just had to be careful about what I ate and how much I ate. Anywho, the dance was from I think 6:30 to 9:00 at night and the excitment in the classroom that day just wouldn't stop. Neither did the talking, but that was nothing new.

When I got to the dance that night, all I had to say was WOW. When I was walking up the ramps that led to where the dance was being held, I could already hear the music and the excitment booming. When I got there, I was speechless. I mean it was not what I expected AT ALL. It was kind of a tiny room for so many people, but it was glowing. Literally, GLOWING. The music was REALLY LOUD, everybody was dancing, and it was a dark room with strobe lights and people were drawing with highlighters on the walls and it would glow. They were writing on themselves too and my other friend made her face look like a kitty. It was just so much fun. Everybody was singing along to the songs, and it ended all too soon. There were Hoola Hoops and a beach ball everyone was tossing around too. It was one of those things where somebody you don't know or barely know could walk up too you, start dancing, and you would just start dancing with them because it just didn't matter. It was a light feeling and there was just a certain vibe in the room. I went outside to cool off, and I guess I shouldn't have been surprised but there was about ten other sweaty people out there :P It ended with me and my friends and a sleepover. It was such a great night! Well, until next time, Stay Blessed.

Swim Team!

Hello fellow bloggers! Before I start, I wanted to apoligize for not posting in SO long. I have had the chance to post about exciting and semi-exciting things many times, but I've made a bad choice and not done it! I apologize, and I hope to be posting more often from now on.

Today, I'm going to tell you about Swim Team! The other night I was at a 4th,5th, and 6th grade dance. (It was awesome and I'll be posting about that next.) Anywho, my mom was outside the door of the place where the dance was being held, talking to the other adults, like adults do ;) She started talking to my friend NingLi's mom and it turns out NingLi is on the swim team! I asked my mom if I could be on the swim team back in 3rd grade, but she said no.

Well, when I came out for a bathroom break because we were all having so much fun and dancing so hard, my mom asked me "Hey! Would you like to be on the swim team?" I didn't know what to say at first, so for a minute i just sat there like a moron with a look on my face that probably made me look like a Japanese cartoon character. After a second, I said: "Sure! I asked you back in third grade so I would LOVE to!" with a big smile. :) I left with a look of pride on my face and a warm feeling inside. It left my mind quickly though, because it was back to party time. But, after the dance, I spent the night at a friends house with three other girls. Then I started thinking about it more and I got really excited.

I've never been on a sports team or been in any type of gymnastics or dance class, so this is a first. I've asked my mom numerous times in the past to be on different things like a cheer squad, dance class, yoga, gymnastics,Girl Scouts, and of course, swim team, but none of those times was a time when she could afford it. So now I was really excited and wouldn't talk about anything else.

So on May 2nd, my mom registered me without telling me. I found out the next day and I was so excited! We went to a swimsuit fitting on Saturday, and I have a suit that I can practice and compete in :) Tryouts are on the 14th, (this Saturday) and I'm so nervous and excited! My older borther, Jesse is going to try out too.

Wish me luck! :)

Color wars!!

It was Color Wars day of Spirit week at school today!! Our grade's color was blue, and I wore my brother's Blue work Shirt, Blue Sweats, Blue hair accessories, Wrote "Go Blue!" on my face, and wore those dorky glasses again. Today felt so much like a Friday, it was ridiculous. When I woke up we had a special breakfast. Since Mom didn't feel like going to the store last night just for milk, this morning we had: Chocolate chip and regular chocolate muffins, Scrambled eggs, sausages, and Hot cocoa. It was so yummy. It was a really big portion, so I still have some eggs and sausage covered up in the fridge for tomorrow morning. Anyways, after breakfast, Mom wrote the "Go Blue!" on my face, and I got dressed, brushed my teeth, and all that good stuff. Then I had Mom take a Picture of me, as you can see above.

When I got to school, they made me wipe off my face paint because of some school rule. Apparently it's "distracting" I was thinking : "That's like the MAIN way to be creative and extreme with your color; Facepaint." Oh well, we all have our reasons. After Math, we practiced our Science raps and my group added dance moves to make it more interesting. Then we had lunch.Chili. School Chili. Before you ask; No. I didn't eat it. I ate the other things on my tray and traded someone my Chili for some of their food. :))

After lunch we did our Journals and a really fun reading activity; lets just say there was throwing and catching involved. :)) We also had a short 20 Minute PE, Recess, and then we finished our reading activity. When class let out, I did safety patrol and with that vest and work shirt, I looked like an employee instead of a student. XDDD

Anywho, after that I came home, did my homework, ate a snack, and now I'm blogging! Today wasn't a very exciting day but, hey; who said days were always a thrill? XD Tomorrow is the last day of Spirit week and it is Falcon Spirit day. Special shout out to Mikey .V: Thanks for the funny comment! Made my day! Thanks so much for following! You're the best and I hope we get to meet soon! Well, that's my day, and keep on Rockin'! ;D

Backwards and Inside out day!

January 26th, 2011

It was Backwards and inside out day at school today! I wore my pink Arkansas shirt backwards and inside out, my blue pants backwards and inside out, a ponytail on the front of my head and some dorky glasses. When I walked into the classroom Everybody was saying : "It's not nerd day" and I would say "I know! I thought the glasses were a nice touch. :)" I LOVE those glasses now. I can't stop wearing them. XD Today was a really fun day. Every one was all backwards and someone said : "Well you're supposed to wear backwards clothes, but it's backwards DAY, so you should just wear normal clothes." I thought that was clever.

This morning we had a math test that was fairly easy, and then we moved on to Science. We read Chapter 9, lesson 1, and we had a Pop quiz. The lesson was about the layers of the earth. The crust, mantle, outer core and inner core. But here's the fun part. For the pop quiz we got into groups of three and make a rap about one of the layers. I got into a group with Anna and Bailey, and Anna was the beat boxer. The rap had to have at least three facts, so we each came up with a fact and put them together. Bailey was a little shy, so we all did her line together.

Here's how the rap went (beat boxing) ♫ The top layer of the mantle is sold hot rock ♫ (beat boxing) ♫ The mantle has very, very deep pressure♫ (beat boxing) ♫ Convection flows slowly in the mantle ♫ wikki wikki wikki wikki word! I love that rap. On Friday, our teacher is going to have us perform it in front of both classes in our grade and she is going to film it. :D

We did a review in Social Studies, had an early recess, and we had a student from Hendrix College as a guest speaker who told us about Hendrix (and college in general), and he emphasized the fun and cool parts. :) Then I came home and did my homework, and now I'm blogging! And I just got some great news! My mom is upgrading our internet real soon!! Woohoo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Goodbye slow internet. XD Pretty fun for a Wednesday, huh?

Tomorrow is Thursday of Spirit Week, and it's "Color War" Day. All the grades have to wear a different color, and the goal is to be the most extreme with your color. Our grade is Blue. YEEEEAAAAHHH. I also have safety patrol tomorrow! That's my day, and keep on quacking! ;)

Welcome to my Epic Life.

Hi there! I am about to take you on a journey of my life. You won't be able to take your eyes away from the computer. My life truly is limitless. Some kids don't realize how much they have and how much they have to be thankful for. And they think things like: "What? I could never do that." Well, somebody's gotta do it, don't they? You just can't limit yourself. I don't ;)

After being PUBLISHED in a children's magazine at age 10, and invited to do it again, I feel like my life is limitless. I'm no longer afraid to reach for the sky when it comes to this sort of thing. I know that I will never fall, if I persevere, and even if I do get tempted to give up, I have my awesome family and friends there to keep me going. I really do have the most awesome friends and family in the world, and after losing a very close friend of mine I had my other friends and family to talk to. The lesson of that story was that not everybody will like you forever, or even like you at all. It's not your fault, that's just life.

I also learned that you can't stay down about something forever and let it ruin your life. You just have to try and forget about it, and for me, my crazy friends made it a lot easier then it probably ever would have been. When life gives you lemons, you just have to make lemonade. The point is, if I can get past losing one of my very best friends, AND I can get published, AND get an offer from the editor to submit again, my life is limitless. It's all because I have an amazing family, amazing friends, and most importantly, God's word. In the long run, those are the only things that truly matter. The possibilities in life are endless. Welcome to Lizzie's Limitless Life.
